Kristen Bell talks life in San Diego and why she can't enjoy a good beer

San Diego--When it comes to hitting up San Diego hot spots, Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell knows where to go -- shopping that is.

The 26-year-old actress spends lots of time in America's Finest City filming the show, which starts its third season on October 3 and she says she loves to hit up Hillcrest for vintage duds, especially “Wear it Again Sam” on 5th Avenue.

"I love that they replicate vintage designs in modern fabric so the stitchings hold as well," she said. "And their window displays are so, so good.

"I just go in there and rip the dresses right off the rack."

Bell, who was recently named by US Weekly magazine as one of the 15 fresh faces to look out for from 2006, said she also loves to stroll around Little Italy, especially when there's a festival going on.

She’s quick to point out, though, that the area is fun during any time of the year. I love Indigo Grill and Zucchero Grill," she said. "We go there all the time when I'm in San Diego."

As far as the San Diego club scene is considered, Bell admits she's no expert and hasn't really snooped around the local bar and club scene.

"I'm more of a lounge girl," she admitted. "I need a movable dance floor and it can't be too dark or too loud.

"I like to chat chat -- I mean you're there to talk and hang out -- I want to be able to see people."

Ummm, sounds like she might be a downtown girl at heart -- or is she?

Although Bell said she rarely drinks, she admits that she loves a good beer.

"I'm a beer girl. I love the taste of beer, but I don't drink that much because I always pay for it," she explained.

"Even with one I get a hangover and I'm finally realizing that I'm just gonna have to have a life without alcohol - which is a sad state of affairs," she continued. "I love beer but hate headaches."

So it looks like dollar pint night at Beachcombers in Mission Beach is out of the question for this rising star.

Veronica Mars premieres on October 3 on CWTV.
