L. Ron Hubbard article

Sirs,

First, regarding the quote you attributed to Hubbard, "If a man really wanted to make a million dollars, the best way to do it would be to start a religion,..."

"The story about founding a religion comes from a casual remark made at a poker game among science fiction writers in the 30's....I believe Phil Klass is the one who was there and tells it. Phil has been known to embellish a personal experience to make it a better story...."

Also, according to naval records, Braisted wasn't Rear Admiral until 1944, yet this supposed inquiry occurred in 1943, when Hubbard was purportedly stripped of command. (Yet his rank remained the same until the end of the war.)

Obviously, you have based your information on Russell Miller's book Bare Faced Messiah, which lacks credibility, according to a published letter on Alt. Religion Scientolog by Fletcher Prouty.

Another point is that if Hubbard was so badly discredited by the Navy, why did he receive an Ordinance Award in the early 60's?

Personally, I find many of the documents released on the internet and used in various character assassination attempts to have the same credibility as the MJ 12 documents, which are questionable since the actual documents were unavailable for inspection.

Did you yourself have the actual documents of Hubbard's naval records and verify your sources before you wrote this article, or is it that you are merely a biased individual masquerading as a "journalist?"

Sincerely,

Robin Adair

Sirs,

You are sooo sued! HAHAHAHAHA!

Just kidding, riffing off the South Park spoof last week. Will you change your name to John Smith?

I guess you've been doing some research on old Hubbard. That's great, I've been a Scientology critic since 1999, and it's good to see that the efforts of researchers and website creators is being put to good use.

I'm sure you're aware that these clowns are on 4th and Ash downtown. You might not be aware that they're out on the streets every Friday giving "free stress tests." Of course, there is always one result:

1. You are messed up.

2. We can help you.

3. Buy this book.

I picketed them a few times at 4th and Ash. They phoned in a complaint to the SDPD that I was going to blow up a Scientology building. They also put fliers around my building downtown.

Then they put up a hate page about me. I rate several pages, even! This is my page: http://religiousfreedomwatch.org/extremists/graham1.html See what a terrible person I am!

Sincerely,

Barbara Graham

Sirs,

Thanks for writing the story about LRH: L. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology, attacked Mexico during World War II. I also enjoyed the story you wrote about fake Navy seals. Now you just need to write the story connecting the two ideas!

L. Ron Hubbard is consistently portrayed by the Church of Scientology as a man that received something like 23 awards and commendations for his bravery under fire in the military. However, it appears that his official Navy records indicate this is all a big lie.

See the web page called "Ron The War Hero" at http://www.spaink.net/cos/warhero/index.html

(This name "Ron the War Hero" was chosen to make fun of such sites as http://www.ronthepoet.org   which the Church of Scientology has created)

Also check out http://www.homeofheroes.com/herobill/, which discusses a new bill proposed by Rep. Salazar that would punish those people that purport to have military awards and honors that they do not have.

Sincerely,

"Vivaldi"

Sirs,

Mr. Knowles! HOW DARE YOU attack "L. Ron Hubbard the great philosopher, educator, humanist and founder of  the fastest-growing religion in the world today?!"

...Just joking. Thanks for the well written article. Chapeau!

Kind regards,

Nexibello
