Jane Doh!

Sirs,

That was the biggest waste of bandwidth and the most useless, non-informative article ("Who is Jane Doe?") I have read since grade school. Are you effing kidding me. Free speech????? Is this what people are fighting for. I don't think posting nude pictures (which I am all for) on somebody elses website, which has no-age/verification/restriction has anything to do with free speech, nor is it appropriate....

I see no future for you in journalism writing crap like this....Good Day.

[Pitbull, sadly, I agree with you. I do, however, have a future in copy editing. Next time you write "elses," be sure to put the apostrophe so that it reads "else's." Otherwise, it makes you look ignorant and angry.--Ed.]

Craigslist Boston was shown a link to your article. Given that Jane Doe was the one who contacted you, I can see why you gave her/him the benefit of the doubt. 

But Jane's posts were not all fluff and la-ti-da and "I just want to post my pics." Jane has been confrontational and beligerent. The powers that be at CL felt it necessary to put some of the content control in the hands of the community.

The Boston community spoke loudly that they did not want her here. She was flagged time after time. Her response was defiant and disrespectful. There were enough flags to take down her posts, which should have sent a clear message to her/him to go away. Jane would simply repost her picks with nasty commentary. She basically spit in the face of people.

This part of the story was clearly missing from your article. On both San Diego and Boston, there were claims that Jane is transgendered. That was another motivational factor that kept people going after her.

And the boards were not split. That implies that there were just as many for her as against her. That is NOT the case. The posts regarding her were overwhelmingly negative and she was not welcome here in Boston at all...period....End of story.

Sirs,

My name is Mike. I am an avid Craigslist reader, especially the “Rants and Raves” section.

I also read with interest your article on “Jane Doe.” I do have a question, though. I do believe I found a photo of her face. I do not know her other than by way of Craigslist.

I would like to find out if it in fact it is her. I don’t want to go on Craigslist and ask. I’m not out to reveal who she is and I’m quite sure if I even made reference to knowing her identity I would be inundated with a long list of liars, and I would never find out, anyway. If you could help me get a personal contact for no other reason but to satisfy my curiosity, I would be grateful.
