What is Vyuz San Diego?

Vyuz San Diego (www.vyuz.com) is a weekly news and commentary web site for greater San Diego. Owned by Vyuz Media, the site launched in August 2005 in order to provide  news and commentary with an “alternative” perspective. It can be categorized as an online “alternative” news source.

It is an “independent” site in the truest sense of the word. Vyuz is not controlled by business interests. It’s owned and published by its principal editor and publisher. That means that Vyuz has a free hand to publish articles that mainstream news outlets and semi-alternative publications tend to avoid.

Vyuz is published each Monday, between 8:00 p.m and Midnight.

What kinds of articles does Vyuz publish and what are its political leanings?

Vyuz publishes articles on a wide range of subjects. In the first five months of publication, for example, Vyuz has published articles on colorful local characters and businesses; sex and sexuality; local politicians and political issues; and professional and amateur sports.

Vyuz’ editorial policy is to avoid taking a political stance on any issue, local or national. Its columnists and writers, however, do opine on political and social issues. Opinion pieces appear under the heading “Commentary,” while objective journalistic pieces appear under the heading “News.” Reader feedback and letters to the editor are encouraged. Vyuz has published several letters critical of articles or opinions appearing on Vyuz.com.
