The bare facts about Brazilian waxing

Do we really go Brazilian for the sake of the thong bikini?

According to my friend who used to work for Larry Flynt Publications, women go Brazilian year round whether they wear a thong or not. “It’s a matter of personal preference,” she said. “It’s also a matter of fashion.”

Dating and the Brazilian

I’ve been out on numerous Match.com dates. I’d hate to say it, but I’ve been asked about my pubic hair on more than one occasion. On a first telephone conversation, one guy asked if I shaved. “Shave what?” I asked.

Over a first-meeting dinner, another guy told me that he removed all his pubic hair. “Interesting,” I commented. I then went on to think about his nether region for the next thirty minutes. Not exactly the imagery I was looking for with my dinner, thanks.

“Why do you do that?” I eventually asked.

He told me he waxed his pubic hair because he was athletic and didn’t like the way his sweat gets caught in his hair.

I mentioned that pubic hair served a purpose, that maybe things were supposed to get caught in it. He said it may have served a purpose when we lived in the woods and didn’t wear clothes, but in this day in age we didn’t need it.

We never did go out again.

So, do men really get Brazilian waxes?

The Sanctuary Spa does not offer Brazilians to men. Danielle, the concierge, in responding to my questions about whether men visit their salon for Brazilians, told me in an almost disdainful manner, “No.”

Lynn at Bare Necessities told me that they do in fact get men going in there for Brazilians.

I also talked to Anatomy Day Spa in Hillcrest. One would think that with the gay population of Hillcrest they would received more waxing requests from men. According to Nicole who has worked at Anatomy for two years, she has “never experienced that.” She said, “I have never had anyone ask for that, but I know there are places men can go to get that done.”

…The Brazilian wax is definitely worth a try. It may be feel a little strange at first, but try it once and you just might like it.
